Chimneys are often left neglected as we don’t think about them much from day to day! It’s important to make sure your chimney is strong, and water-tight to keep your home dry and warm; and to stop the danger of loose material dropping from your roof in winds. Chimney stacks that fall, more often than not, damage other parts of your roof, so it is cost-effective in the long run to get your chimney stack checked, and repaired if necessary, sooner rather than later. If you use your chimney (for an open fire or wood-burner) it is doubly important to make sure your chimney is in tip-top condition.
